Georgia Tech Advanced Manufacturing Pilot Facility

575 14th Street Northwest Atlanta, GA 30318

5:30 – 7:30 p.m.

Medical device innovation and manufacturing is unique in its rigors, challenges and impact potential. It is easy to squander scarce resources wasting time with too many prototypes instead of verifying and validating the primary functions of each prototype interaction’s purpose. It’s also easy to fail to “design for manufacturability,” which can lead to significant downstream problems.

But the challenges are not insurmountable, and the Atlanta medtech ecosystem has the talent and infrastructure required to support successful medtech and medical device innovation, including production and manufacturing in a highly regulated environment.

From our colleagues at the Georgia Manufacturing Extension Partnership (GaMEP), the Advanced Technology Development Center (ATDC), and Georgia AIM, GCMI invites you to join us “for a unique opportunity to learn more about the current state of the medical device space and the specialized services and capabilities our programs offer to medical device companies.

“During this two-hour event, attendees will:

  • Tour the Advanced Manufacturing Pilot Facility (AMPF) and explore cutting-edge machinery and technologies, including additive manufacturing, precision machining, augmented and virtual reality, collaborative robotics, and artificial intelligence.
  • Hear from a panel of industry experts on what’s currently happening in the medical device space, including opportunities and challenges.
  • Discover specialized services our programs offer to medical device companies, including start-ups and established firms.
  • Network with other manufacturers, designers, researchers, and our experts while enjoying refreshments and appetizers.”

Who should attend:

  • Researchers, professors and students whose work or technologies have potential applications in medicine or healthcare.
  • Manufacturers of componentry or products requiring ISO 9001 certification who should consider accessing the medical device market.
  • Medical device startup leaders with technologies at any point in its commercialization pathway from the lab or bench, into early designs, development, verification testing, validation testing or transfer to production.

Registration is $25 per person and includes refreshments.

Parking is available in the small lots fronting 14th Street as well as the larger lot on the building’s north side identified as the Georgia Tech Student Competition Center.
