GCMI Medical Director Emily Blum, MD

Earlier this month, Georgia Bio announced the winners of its 2024 Golden Helix Awards. The GCMI team proudly shares that our own Emily Blum, MD, pediatric urologist and GCMI Medical Director will be presented a 2024 Golden Helix Community Award at the Georgia Life Sciences Summit in October.

The Community Award is presented “to a small number of individuals, companies or institutions whose contributions to Georgia’s life sciences community are worthy of special recognition.”

Ashley Cornelison, formerly of the Georgia Research Alliance, now with Portal Innovations, Betty Pace of the Georgia Cancer Society and Augusta University and Connor Seabrook with the Georgia Research Alliance are also 2024 recipients of a Georgia Bio Golden Helix Community Award.

“The life sciences community strives to improve patients’ lives, reduce our environmental footprint, use less and cleaner energy, and support workforce development, all while growing Georgia’s bioeconomy” said Georgia Bio CEO Maria Thacker Goethe, “The Golden Helix Awards highlights those lasting contributions made by many in the life sciences sector in Georgia.”

Emily provides invaluable insights into our clients’ innovation efforts, especially in the challenging pediatric realm and for user needs assessment and feedback without which the technologies we support would not be as successful as they are or can be,” said GCMI Interim Executive Director Saylan Lukas. “Emily is richly deserving of this recognition and we extend our heartiest congratulations on this award along with our thanks for all that she brings to the GCMI team and the technologies we support to improve outcomes and lives.”
