T3 Labs is committed to excellence in translational research including preclinical cardiovascular research. After all, our program leaders are scientists, too.
This is most recently evident in the journal article “Vasomotor Function Comparative Assessment at 1 and 2 Years Following Implantation of the Absorb Everolimus-Eluting Bioresorbable Vascular Scaffold and the Xience V Everolimus-Eluting Metallic Stent in Porcine Coronary Arteries” published in Journal of the American College of Cardiology: Cardiovascular Interventions. (JACC-CI)
This study on bioresorbable vascular scaffolds was conducted over a four year period involving scaffold implant in the coronary arteries, serial quantitative coronary angiography (QCA), intra-vascular ultrasound (IVUS), studying in vivo and ex vivo vasomotor function, tissue characterization via histology and gene microarray. The in-vivo and in-life work was conducted at T3 Labs along with other aspects of the study that were facilitated by trained T3 staff.
We look forward to collaborating with our sponsors on studies such as these that result in meaningful data, and allow continued development of novel medical devices.
Emory School of Medicine Professor of Surgery & T3 Colleague Dr. Robert Guyton Presented ACC Distinguished Service Award
Remaining within the cardiovascular realm, as an affiliate of Emory University and the Emory School of Medicine, T3 Labs would like to congratulate Dr. Robert Guyton, FACC. Dr. Guyton was recently presented the Distinguished Service Award by the American College of Cardiology in honor of his outstanding contributions to the field of cardiovascular medicine. Dr. Guyton was recently recognized on this achievement on April 4 during the Convocation Ceremony at the ACC’s 65th Annual Scientific Session in Chicago.
Courtesy of the Emory University News Center, “Dr. Guyton has made lasting contributions to the field of cardiovascular medicine through dedication to his patients, practice and colleagues,” says ACC President Kim Allan Williams, MD, FACC. “It is an honor to be able to recognize Dr. Guyton with the Distinguished Service Award and celebrate his contributions to and achievements in cardiology.”
“Dr. Guyton has served as chief of the Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery at Emory since 1990 and is currently the chief of cardiothoracic surgery at Emory University Hospital. He is a Distinguished Charles Ross Hatcher, Jr., Professor of Surgery and the director of the Thoracic Surgery Residency Program, Emory University School of Medicine.
“Throughout his career, Dr. Guyton has held various high-level offices in numerous surgical societies, including a 2003-2004 term as president of the Society of Thoracic Surgeons and an ongoing membership on the Board of Directors of the Thoracic Surgery Foundation for Research and Education.”
T3 Labs is always seeking to put our extensive preclinical cardiovascular research experience and thirst for new scientific knowledge to work; collaborating on device, drug and biological treatments for cardiovascular diseases.
